Story Stones

It’s that time of the year again where I start planning and getting ready for a new school Year! Last year I made Name Stones for each class member not sure how they would go. At open house I had parents say are  you afraid they’ll go through the window?  I approached it as I do everything I bring into the classroom, we’ll see how they do and then adjust if I need to. They were a wonderful addition to our Alphabet / Science Center! Through the year I saw them stack, build, sound out, line up and never throw! In fact I had one little guy who pulled them out everyday to ask who’s name is this, with a sneaky smile because he already knew who’s name it was. At the end of the year the Name Stones went home.

To do things differently this year I decided to try using Sharpies instead of paint so I could have more control. I love the way they turned out, the color is bright yet you can still see the details of the rock! In fact I had so much fun with the names I decided to try my hand at Story Stones, I started with my favorite The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Let’s get started
