Here is a quick and easy way to really make your neighbors day!! Three weeks ago I was given this beautifully painted can vase filled with flowers from the garden. It was such a surprise to find on my doorstep. For a whole week I studied it and wondered who painted it. When it was time to change the flowers I found a note on the inside bottom, it was Lilly my neighbor. I can’t tell you how much this really cheered me up for weeks! This May day make a vase to surprise your neighbor!!
Recycled Can Tissue Paper Vase
Supplies Needed:
- Recycled Can (I used a diced tomato can from dinner the night before)
- Recycled tissue paper ( I save them from old gifts)
- Glue or Mod Podge
- Scissors
- Pliers
- Paint Brush
I started by finding a can in our recycle bin. Peel the paper label off then wash it well. Using the pliers pinch around the top edge so its smooth and has no sharp edges.
When you can is dry and the top is smooth you are ready to add the tissue paper. You could also use paint and cover the can in a beautiful design like my neighbor did! I am a bit of a saver I love to hold on to the tissue paper from past gifts you never know when you might need them. Seeing as though we are in quarantine and unable to go out it’s fun to find what you already have in your home. I cut the tissue into small squares. Using the brush I painted on the Mod Podge, I did not have any glue in my house but that would work! Adding the tissue paper then painting the glue over the top. Set aside to dry. It took me ten minutes to hunt around my house find what I needed and make the vase, the longest part was waiting for it to dry!
When the can is dry walk through your yard or go on a walk and collect flowers. Remember to surprise your neighbor set it in front of their door, ring the doorbell but run away so they don’t know who gave it to them! You can write a note in the bottom of the can for them to find later!
