To start I used a simple print shop program to print my snorkel mask and then traced them with black glue the day before we painted them. When they were dry I cut out the center of the mask, due to time and the age of my frogs.

To create their divers the frogs painted their masks with watercolors and then used glue sticks to add their swim fins. While they were working we talked about their “dive” and I took their photo pretending to hold their breath! Some covered their black wet suit with glue and this gave it a cool texture when dried.

I then printed their photos in 5 x 7 black and white. The frogs and their parents loved this board! It was so fun to listen to them tell the story of their dive to their parents.

Paper Plate Mr. Seahorse

This easy to make paper plate seahorse is a great craft to complement the classic favorite Mr. Seahorse by Eric Carle. The great aspect of this craft is there are so many ways you could paint it. I have created watercolor, salt and glue Mr.seahorse in the past. This year we added confetti. My goal is always to give as many choices as possible so the art is a unique as possible.
