Yarn Pumpkins Preschool Fall Art

What fun the Frogs has this week creating Pumpkins for our Classroom Fall Harvest Party! As always I like to get everything set and ready so I can let the Frogs create without much help from me. However, that being said many were afraid to stick their hands in the glue so I had to show them, fun but messy so sorry not many photos due to my sticky hands! Once they got started they went to town. Lets get started

So before class I blew up the balloons, cut off one large string of Orange Yarn and wax paper on our drying shelf. To set up our art center I added a tub of soapy water so the Frogs to clean their hands right away! I covered half our Art table with wax paper and the other the washing station! Then filled a small bowl with the glue.

Each Frog dipped their yarn into the glue careful to soak all the yarn, although I have had them touch many different textures it was hard for some of them to stick their fingers in a bowl of glue. Once I got mine in they tried and I’m happy to say that all the Frogs got into the feeling of the thick, cold, sticky glue! One at a time they held their balloon and tuned it to wrap the yarn around the balloon. Then I set them on our drying wrack to dry.

After letting them sit over the weekend to dry the frogs used scissors to cut the end of the balloon. The Frogs loved the way the balloon pulled from the yarn with a cool snapping sound! To finish the pumpkins I had the Frogs bend a brown pipe cleaner as a stem and wrap a green pipe cleaner around the base of the brown “Stem”, using a crayon / pencil I had them wrap the green around to give it a curl.
