On day one we made our book cover, What’s Inside a Pumpkin?
I started by mixing the orange paint with pumpkin pie spice, children loved the way it smelled! On the week that we made ours we were also learning about the Letter D so I chose to have them Dot the paint with a foam brush. Some had great fun painting the entire Pumpkin! When they were finished they added the words to the wet paint.
Before they came to paint their cover I had them study a Pumpkin. How does it look, feel, smell etc.. They even took turns feeling how heavy it was. We talked about what might be inside.
On Day 2 we made our inside cover Seeds and Pulp
Before the kids came to glue their book I had them explore what is really inside a Pumpkin!
We tasted what a pumpkin seed taste like. Then began to create. I love the way some kids turned their seeds and string pulp into faces and even Tic Tac Toe!
To finish our book We attached them with the yarn when dried.
