This has to be one of my new favorites! With a few supplies you can create your own Monarch Butterfly to fill your room with wonder and joy. We spent the week talking about the Butterfly Life Cycle and the journey of the Monarch’s! My classroom now fills my heart with memories of my home town Santa Cruz California Natural Bridges. Supplies Needed:

• Liquid Starch mixed with a little water
• Tissue paper cut
• Paint Brush and cup

• black construction paper

To start cut your black paper in the shape of a butterfly with the wings hallowed out. You can use any color paper I used black to create Monarchs. Next cut your tissue, the holes must be completely covered so you may want to cut them large or small depending on how patient  your artist is. I start by adding wax paper to their art tray and then put your butterfly on top. In a cup I mix a small amount of starch with water they then use the paint brush to add the liquid to the wax paper in the hole of the butterfly. Then they set the tissue paper and cover leaving no white wax paper showing. To finish they lightly used the brush to paint over the top of all the tissue. Then set aside to dry. When dry slowly pull the wax paper away from the butterfly. Hang in your window Beautiful!!
